The Complete Edition of ATSP’s Code of Professional Conduct is now available for public comment.
All five tenets of ATSP’s Code of Professional Conduct’s have now been compiled into one complete draft. The Code of Professional Conduct is prefaced with a stated purpose, as well as a defined list of recurring terms found therein.
With the help of the speech-to-text community, ATSP seeks to eliminate uncertainty and confusion in the field and establish a communal set of standards addressing ethics and professionalism.
The Code establishes guidelines and expectations for transcribers and speech-to-text providers through the following tenets:
- Confidentiality
- Competence
- Impartiality
- Respect
- Integrity
While the Code is being released in its entirety, it is still only a working draft. ATSP will continue to accept public comment on the Code through the end of April, after which additional revisions will be implemented based on the feedback received. Thank you to everyone who has provided comment so far!
Please leave comments on this working draft in the comments section of the post below. Or email us at [email protected] to comment privately. Thank you for reading and providing feedback!
Accessible versions of the ATSP Code of Conduct are available by request.
