Since April 2016, ATSP has been working on a Job Analysis for transcribers and captionists, in partnership with the Center on Education and Training for Employment (CETE), a research center in the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University. We’re pleased to introduce the members and stakeholders of ATSP to these talented individuals at CETE who are making this work possible.
JAMES T. AUSTIN received his Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in 1987, then completed a Postdoctoral Traineeship in Quantitative Psychology at the University of Illinois from 1987-1989. He served as a visiting faculty member at the University of Illinois 1988-1989, where he met Michael Zickar and Joe Lualhati, and at New York University 1989-1990; he was on the faculty at The Ohio State University from 1991-1997. In 1997, he moved across campus to the Center on Education and Training for Employment, a workforce R&D center since 1965 housed in the College of Education and Human Ecology at The Ohio State University. Promoted to Senior Research Specialist in 2005, and Director of Assessment Services since 2010, James is largely responsible for managing a work group engaged in a range of testing projects. Dr. Austin’s research spans statistical-measurement topics as well as goals, history, and job performance. He has published articles in Psychological Bulletin, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Academy of Management Executive, Organizational Research Methods, and Journal of Career-Technical Education. Finally, he has presented many iterations of a three-day professional development workshop on basic test construction to a variety of participants since 2004, including study groups from Malaysia (2006, 2014) and in Canada (2010) as well as at Western Governor’s University (2014).
BROOKE PARKER (WATSON) received her M.S. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Purdue University in 2009. She has been working in workforce development for over 7 years serving academic, private business-industry, nonprofit and government agencies. Brooke has been with The Ohio State University’s Center on Education and Training for Employment as a Research Specialist since 2013 and was promoted in 2016 to Associate Director of Assessment Services. Before working with Ohio State she worked in Adult Education building partnerships between business-industry and helping to create solutions to fill the talent pipeline. Brooke has a passion for using scientific research practices to enable organizations across industries to effectively evaluate and conduct talent management practices.
CARA NORTH received her MA in Workforce Development from The Ohio State University and is currently working towards earning her doctorate in Learning Technologies also at OSU. Cara has held multiple positions at The Ohio State University over the past three years and is currently a program specialist at the Center on Education and Training for Employment (CETE), part of the College of Education and Human Ecology. Prior to working at OSU, Cara worked for Amazon.com as an instructional designer and was an instructor of technology for Workforce WV Region 2 Workforce Investment Board. Cara holds a DACUM job analysis facilitation certification and recently co-facilitated a job analysis for Cornell University. Cara’s research interests include learning and development, workforce development, eLearning, and learning management systems.
LINDSAY McCORD is a Graduate Research Associate for The Center on Education and Training for Employment, contributing in the development of the Job Analysis at a Distance process. She is currently pursuing her MA in Counselor Education at The Ohio State University.
