Position Summary:The Transcriptionist/Interpreter at Oregon State University (OSU) will be responsible for providing accurate transcription and interpretation services to support the communication needs within the university environment. This role requires a high degree of proficiency in English and at least one other language, excellent listening and typing skills, and a strong commitment to providing outstanding service.Key Responsibilities:Transcription Services:Accurately transcribe audio recordings of lectures, meetings, and other university-related events into written text.Edit transcripts for clarity and correctness, ensuring they adhere to OSU's guidelines and standards.Manage transcription projects, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining high-quality standards.Interpretation Services:Provide real-time interpretation services for university events, meetings, or other occasions where language interpretation is needed.Assist in facilitating communication between English and non-English speaking individuals within the university community.Documentation and Record-keeping:Maintain accurate records of all transcription and interpretation services provided.Prepare and manage necessary documentation related to the services provided.Liaison and Communication:Act as a liaison between the university and non-English speaking community members, promoting inclusivity and diversity.Collaborate with other departments and external organizations to enhance the provision of language services at OSU.Continuous Learning and Development:Participate in professional development activities to enhance transcription and interpretation skills.Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.Previous experience in transcription and/or interpretation preferred.Proficiency in English and at least one other language, with additional languages being a strong asset.Excellent listening, typing, and communication skills.Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Knowledge of transcription software and other related technologies is a plus.Application Instructions:Interested candidates are invited to submit a resume, cover letter, and a list of three references through the OSU jobs portal by [Application Deadline].
